A waterfront city, the Port history goes back to the 15th Century when Henry the Navigator had his ships built and stocked there before leaving on his voyages of discovery.
In the summer, the streets come alive at night when the tourists, ex-pats from Britain, and Europe, and, the Portuguese all blend in a harmonious group of party go-ers enjoying the bars, restaurants, and city scene.
During the day you can stroll along ancient streets or walk along the waterfront. If that isn't enough to please you, then you can visit the museums, churches, and galleries. There is lots to see and do in the Algarve.
